Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM:XOM ) is expected to post earnings of $1.75 a share in the third quarter, according to analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial.
They are having a conference call on 11-01-07
They say the stock will experience heavy trading.
Whats does this mean for the stock value? Is tomorrow going to be a good day to buy or sell XOM?
It depends on what they SAY. If they reveal something like accounting problems, or anything which would impact their credibility, then expect the stock to take a downturn when people hear the stock might lose credibility. Unless they reveal some kind of information which causes a doubt or benefit of some kind, stockholder meetings do NOT affect the trading of the stock. In most cases, a stockholder meeting is there to elect the officials and simply give an annual financial statement, which mostly is a benign event. Sometimes they give projections of earnings, which can also affect the trading the next day. The annual meeting of stockholders is just one of many resources you need to look at when evaluating a stock to buy or sell.
