I am disputing a $200 charge on my account & they said it would take 60 days!Am I gettin charged for interest?

First off prior to this issue i loved Victoria's Secret, and their credit card was by far my favorite one. I have had it for over a year and had no complaints previously. I am only 19 and my credit score is already in the 700's so this concerns me and I do not want to be charged for financing charges which are also ridiculously high 22.8%!!! However, I can thank VS for my good credit score because I shopped their every month practically and paid my bills promptly as I do all my credit cards.

About 2 months ago I opened up my VS bill and knew it would only be about $40 because I purchased a swim suit online. I was shocked to see a balance of over $200!! There was a charge of $193 made in VA!! I LIVE IN WI! I called customer service thinking it was identity theft and it turns out a credit card was not even used in the purchase/ VA Store, and it was NOT identity theft. I was informed that a customer came into the VA store and asked the cashier to look up their account and over the secure credit line the cashier got that customer's account number and SIMPLY ENTERED IT WRONG and just my luck it got charged to MY ACCOUNT! THIS IS RIDICULOUS because the cashier must enter the account number twice and verify their information by asking for a driver's license AND the customer has to sign electronically and under the signature line is the first and last name of the person's account which happened to be MY ACCOUNT, so that customer KNEW they were getting away with not paying for their $193 purchase and that someone else was!

It just shows VS employees are incomepeent and not revieved well enough before hired or maybe the training program is slacking.

I was extrememly mad about this situation but tried to stay calm but with finals around the corner I did not need more stress in my life!

I can't even remember how many numbers I had to call, how many times I got transferred it was a mess! The part I was mad about what THEY COULD NOT JUST TAKE IT OFF MY ACCOUNT I HAD TO WRITE A LETTER DISPUTING IT!! Last time I checked this issue is not even close to being my fault so now I have to waste my time??!!

So I wrote the stupid letter and mailed it in thinking once they get it then the charge will be taken off MY Account. I get a letter saying it will take 60 days!!!! I got through to Lee Exley the district manager who called me first and I did not return her call the same day because she called while I was in class.. I called her back and left her two voice messages she did not get back to me for 2 weeks so I called and left her a voice message at her office mailbox. THEN she called me back and apologized and was VERY sincere and nice and was sorry she had not called me because she was in conferences. She said she would send me a 30% off coupon which came in the mail shortly ha what a joke only 30% for what I went through!! She also said she would speed up the process but I opened up my most recent bill and the charge is still on there! Everytime I will get my bill this will stress me out knowing I have a somewhat high balance on my account that I don't need to pay but yet it won't go away! So I called up Lee again and she got back to me very promptly and said she had contacted whoever it was to try and get that charge removed off my account. I have no problem with her, she is been the best she can be and I realize she has no control over the credit card part of victoria's secret. This is just crazy how this unfortunately happened to me and I AM BEING PUNISHED and i am a valued customer, I spend all my money at VS! NOT ANYMORE!! I informed her as soon as I pay what I owe I am canceling and never shopping there again! Plus with financing charges that high if i really wanna shop their I can use cash or open up an entirely diff. credit card with normal interest rates. DON'T trust VS because if their silly error can even happen it WILL happen to someone else I believe for how much I spend at that store more action should have been taken NOT 60 days later!!!!!


As long as the amount is in dispute, yes, interest will be applied.

However, the moment the dispute is resolved, a credit will be issued to your account for the amount and the interest.

The amount in question is not considered due, until it's resolved.

In a case where the cardholder is wrong, the interest is due.

Call the Customer Service line back - be very calm. Explain to the CSR that you know they are just doing their job but that you need to speak to a manager/supervisor. When you get that person give them the facts - and request it be removed immediately.

Tell the manager as it stands - VS has told you that the charge was an error by their employee, that you have taken your time to handle this error they made and you are still being held accountable for this error. This is impacting your credit score (over inflating your utilization) and you want assurance it will be removed today. Then ask the supervisor to fax you something in writing explaining what ocurred and what steps have been taken to correct it and make sure no other customer is a victim at the hands of their employees.
