Would the troops ever respect a President Obama?

Besides constantly calling the war a "waste" and leading the effort to surrender and leave. Now this:

When Obama held his second press conference late last week to address his ever more slippery position on withdrawing troops from Iraq, he stated:

"I am absolutely committed to ending the war," the longtime community organizer declared. "I will call my Joint Chiefs of Staff in and give them a new assignment and that is to end the war."

Barnett explains well the role of Joint Chefs as a staff unit, which provides advice to the commander-in-chief. In order to avoid conflicts within their respective services and provide clear advice, the joint chiefs are by law excluded from the command structure. The command structure (what is called the "line" part of the organization in corporate organizations) consists of people like General Petraeus, who actually run the military organization through its structure of commands.

The man doesn't understand the office he so wants

Publicly yes, privately no. Active Military 80% Rep.

The troops would respect the office of the Presidency and keep their mouths shut about the man in that office.

Just like they did during the Clinton administration.

Of course. They've respected the draft dodger currently in office...

I wouldn't.

it would be a disaster.................

Yes, he would be the commander and chief. Peace

I don't think so because of the way he's always putting down America.

For some reason the people who use the troops as their weapon in a political agenda, don't get it, and never will. The troops are just doing their job.

Theirs is not to question why, theirs is just to do or die.

Soldiers follow orders, period.

To answer your question, they would not only respect him, most would love him for bringing them home.

Ron Paul said he would bring the troops home. Ironically, 'the troops' were donating to his campaign more than all the other campaigns when the debates were raging.

That tell you anything?

Who cares if the troops respect him, they are troops they will be ordered to. Its what they do, follow orders. BTW, do you think they respect Bush???

Edit: I was at that speech, there was nothing confusing about what he said. Damn him for wanting to get the facts huh. May as well work like Bush and not get any facts.

Well...that's your opinion.

I KNOW he'll do a wonderful job as president and according to recent polls, so do 61% of the troops!
